The educational activities of the PhD course include fundamental courses, thematic courses and seminar activities.
The fundamental courses are intended to provide basic knowledge about scientific thinking, the development of nursing philosophy and theory, research methodology and statistical analysis methodologies that are transversal to all doctoral lines.
The thematic courses focus on complementary educational aspects that aim to deepen specific research and data analysis methodologies that, although characterising the SSD, are of interest to the nursing discipline as they represent a moment of disciplinary integration.
The seminar activities are aimed at familiarizing the doctoral students with experiences in the development of research programmes by successful national and international scholars in order to provide examples of role-modelling.
Fundamental courses, thematic courses and seminar activities are carried out in presence or by videoconference (this mode is particularly used with foreign lecturers) and provide for the active involvement of students with Problem Based Learning methodologies in which the lecturer constitutes a resource that can be used by the student.
Student assessment is mandatory and includes both ongoing evaluations based on intermediate objectives and a final evaluation based on the annual course objectives. A positive assessment allows the student to pass the year and earn the corresponding ECTS credits.
In addition to the formal teaching activities, the student follows a personal training course with the tutor assigned to him/her, aimed at the specific line of research and, therefore, at writing the final dissertation. In addition, courses on European research funding are also held by Dr Maria Fabiani, consultant to the European Commission.
